Alternative routes announced for Islamabad on August 5, Kashmir day

A traffic plan has been announced by the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, also known as Kashmir Day, to be observed on August 05.

Traffic will be closed completely for the public from D-Chowk to the Foreign Office.

As per the official notification issued by the ITP, the following traffic diversions will be followed by the public today:

The motorists coming from the Secretariat will be bound to use the route from Ayub Chowk to Embassy Road.

The traffic from Serena Hotel can use Embassy Road.

Meanwhile, the traffic from Bari Imam can use the new Bari Imam Road.

Last but not least, the motorists who usually go from Club Road can use Embassy Road and the 7th Avenue.

Those who are planning to travel via these routes are requested by the authorities to use the alternative routes and to plan their journeys accordingly.

5 August Kashmir Day

Pakistan every year after August 5, 2019, observes Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, also known as Kashmir Day to remember the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the barbaric act of behaviour delivered by the Indian authorities.

On August 5, 2019, the government of India revoked Articles 370 and 35A from its constitution by removing the status of Kashmir as a State from its territory and handing the region over to Delhi’s control by dividing it into two union territories.

The removal of the articles removed the autonomous status of the IIOJK from the Indian boundaries.

Pakistan has always stood firm with the people of IIOJK by raising their voices at the international level.

By condemning this act of the Indian authorities, Pakistan observes Kashmir Day aka Black Day every year to draw global attention towards the changes in the region.

Kashmir Day holiday in Pakistan

There is no official holiday on August 5 (Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir) by the government of Pakistan.

The officials of the federal government have clarified that Wednesday, August 5, 2026, is an official working day. All of the government offices, educational institutions, banks, and private businesses will remain completely operational.
