The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has dismissed reports claiming that the welfare scheme is being closed in Pakistan permanently.
BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid said during an online public interaction that rumours about the programme’s closure were “baseless” and aimed at creating confusion among low-income families.
She described the claims as false and urged the beneficiaries not to be misled.
She said that BISP was established to support deserving households across Pakistan and was not linked to any political party.
According to the chairperson, the programme continues to operate with the objective of providing financial assistance to vulnerable families.
Her remarks came after a participant in the e-Kacheri described BISP as a national welfare initiative serving people across all provinces and political affiliations.
Rubina Khalid responded that the programme was founded to fulfil the vision of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto of assisting the country’s poorest citizens.
Separately, BISP announced that its Dynamic Survey Registration will remain open throughout August 2026, allowing eligible families to update their information and maintain their eligibility for financial support.
The officials of the programme said households seeking assistance should complete the Dynamic Survey at their nearest BISP Tehsil Office by submitting their original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and other required documents.
They added that the updated information would be verified before determining eligibility under the programme.
BISP also urged applicants to use only official registration centres and provide accurate information, warning against relying on unofficial sources or misinformation regarding the programme.
