The federal government of Pakistan has approved the online police character certificate system to facilitate Pakistanis looking to travel abroad.
The citizens of Pakistan across all of the provinces can now apply online for their Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) through a centralised platform.
This major decision got approval in a meeting that took place on August 4, chaired by the Interior Minister of Pakistan, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, at the National Police Bureau (NPB).
Mohsin Naqvi said that the government is committed to promoting digitalisation and has simplified the existing system of Police Clearance Certificates.
The NPB will now issue the PCCs under the newly introduced system.
The citizens can apply from home and get their certificates at their residences by using the official portal of the National Police Bureau.
The interior minister also directed officials to introduce a unified nationwide system for issuing International Driving Permits.
He said that the integrated systems for Police Character Certificates and International Driving Permits would simplify the process for Pakistanis travelling abroad.
With this new online system, those who want to travel abroad will no longer have to wait for weeks to get their clearance certificates from the police, as the new system is completely online and digital.
