The final league match of the One-Day International (ODI) tri-series will be played between Sri Lanka and England today. Both teams will take the field at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore at 1pm.
Sri Lanka have already secured a place in the series final, while England have suffered defeats in all three of their opening matches. In this situation, today’s match will provide the English team with an opportunity to end the series on a better note.
England’s Practice
Before the match, the England team took part in a practice session at Gaddafi Stadium. Some Sri Lankan players also continued their training activities at the ground.
Preparations by both teams are underway for the final league match. After consecutive defeats, improving their performance will be important for England, while Sri Lanka will try to finalise its preparations ahead of the final.
England Await First Victory
England have played three matches in the tri-series so far and have lost all three. Following their continued failures, the final league match is an important opportunity for the team to assess its performance.
However, Sri Lanka have already qualified for the final, so the result of this match will not change their participation in it. On the other hand, a victory could help England end the series on a positive note.
Final Against Pakistan
The tri-series final will be played on October 31, in which Sri Lanka will face hosts Pakistan. Sri Lanka’s performance in today’s match could provide an indication of its preparations ahead of the final.
