The president of the United States (US), Donald Trump, and the Prime Minister (PM) of India, Narendra Modi, on Wednesday, met in France’s Evian, at the G7 summit 2026, where he called the Indian PM a ‘killer’.
When asked about a trade deal between the US and India at the G7 Summit in Evian, France, President Donald Trump joked about the Indian PM Narendra Modi.
He described him as a “killer” because of his strong negotiating skills and also called him an “angel.”
Speaking about Modi, Trump said, “So you look at this man. I’ll give you a lesson. He looks so nice, like an angel, but actually, he’s as tough as a killer. He’s a killer.”
PM Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump met at the G7 Summit in Evian, France, on June 16, according to the Indian media reports. This was their first meeting in 16 months.
Before this, the two leaders last met in person in February 2025 at the White House in Washington, DC. This was shortly after Trump’s second inauguration.
After shaking hands, both of them spoke briefly. They are also expected to hold a bilateral meeting on Wednesday on the sidelines of the summit.
PM Modi arrived in France to attend the G7 Summit and discuss important global issues with other world leaders.
At the 2026 G7 Leaders’ Summit held in Evian, the leaders of the G7 discussed topics ranging from international peace and security to global economic stability, growth, and emerging technologies.
Modi-Meloni’s Melodi moment at G7 summit
Narendra Modi is once again in hot water after sharing a Melodi moment with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The moment quickly went viral on social media during the G7 Summit.
As world leaders gathered for the traditional group photograph. The two leaders were seen greeting each other in a brief interaction that caught public attention online.
During the exchange, Meloni was heard saying, “Nice to meet you again!” She then jokingly replied, “We are the most famous couple on Instagram,” a comment that didn’t sit well with the people online.
The moment, popularly dubbed the “Melodi” interaction by internet users became one of the most talked-about highlights of the summit.
