Former Pakistan Test cricketers Umar Gul and Asad Shafiq are expected to be included in the team management for the upcoming Test tour of Bangladesh.
Pakistan last featured in a Test series against South Africa in 2025. However, sources suggest that the team management is set for a reshuffle ahead of the Bangladesh series, according to media reports.
According to reports, Umar Gul is likely to be appointed as the bowling coach, while Asad Shafiq is expected to take charge as the batting coach.
Further announcements regarding the support staff are anticipated in the coming days as Pakistan prepares for the two-match Test series next month.
Additionally, Abdul Saad may be appointed as the fielding coach. He has previously served as the fielding coach of the Pakistan women’s team and would be joining the men’s team for the first time. Former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is set to begin his role as the head coach of red-ball cricket.
Pakistan to tour Bangladesh next month
Pakistan is scheduled to tour Bangladesh next month for a two-Test series. According to sources, the team will depart for Dhaka on the night of May 4, following the PSL final. Pakistan will play a Test match in Sylhet for the first time.
The second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be held in Dhaka. The Bangladesh Cricket Board is expected to announce the full schedule of the series in the coming days.
