Several universities in Pakistan have announced to suspend their classes in view of the prevailing circumstances between Israel and Iran.
The University of Karachi has suspended all classes for today. According to the Registrar, the decision was taken in solidarity with the martyrs of Iran. All examinations scheduled for March 2 have also been postponed, and new dates will be announced later.
In Islamabad, the Quaid-i-Azam University has also been closed for the day. The university administration stated that the decision was made keeping in mind the safety of students and staff.
Meanwhile, the International Islamic University Islamabad has announced that classes will be conducted online today. However, deans, chairpersons, and administrative staff will remain on campus to ensure that official matters continue without disruption.
University administrations have said that students will be updated promptly regarding further decisions, and future actions will depend on the evolving situation.
Karachi Police issues ‘public safety’ advisory for citizens
A public safety advisory released by the Karachi Police advises citizens to refrain from permitting unfamiliar individuals to access their residences and workplaces amid the ongoing Pak-Afghan war.
It has become compulsory to conduct thorough verification of domestic helpers, drivers, and security personnel.
The advisory emphasises the necessity of registering with the appropriate police station prior to employing a tenant and urges individuals to immediately report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
Karachi police advise against spreading fake information online
Citizens are instructed to refrain from disseminating unverified information on social media and to avoid surrendering their identity documents to unrelated parties.
It also encouraged citizens to adhere to the guidance provided by security personnel and to promptly follow instructions given at police checkpoints or during clearance operations.
Additionally, it urged citizens to verify information and refrain from disseminating “panic content” on social media.
