In the 11th Pakistan Super League (PSL 11), Hyderabad Kingsmen wicketkeeper-batter Usman Khan made history by being the first player to hit four centuries in the tournament.
The highlight came during a high-intensity match with Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium where he delivered a brilliant match winning performance of 101 runs in only 47 balls.
The pressure was mounting on Usman as he entered the field at 48/3 in 5.2 overs with Muhammad Ismail on a hat-trick and Hyderabad losing the chase.
He initially survived an early scare, when Multan made an unsuccessful appeal for a possible wicket on the first ball.
Then he made a bold counterstroke which gave the tide a new turn.
His performance had 10 sixes and five fours as he turned the game upside down and took Hyderabad to the win.
He surpassed Babar Azam, Rilee Rossouw and Kamran Akmal who all have three PSL hundreds with this fourth century.
Remarkably, his first three centuries were when he was playing with Multan Sultans, the same team he smashed when he hit his fourth ton record.
He had already scored hundreds against Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings and Islamabad United.
He also has the record of the fastest century in the history of PSL as he accomplished it on only 36 balls.
Usman Khan, who now plays on behalf of Hyderabad Kingsmen, has enhanced his reputation as one of the most explosive batters in the league enhanced by his latest knock.
His play in PSL 11 has been largely acclaimed for his ability to keep calm under pressure and to strike explosively, which adds to his reputation as a franchise game-winner.
