The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released its latest ODI rankings. India’s star batter Virat Kohli has climbed one place to second in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings.
Kohli scored a magnificent unbeaten 139, including nine sixes, in the first match of the series against the West Indies. The innings marked the 55th century of his ODI career. Kohli’s rating points have increased to 796, while India captain Shubman Gill has retained the top spot with 816 points. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell is third with 794 points, while Rohit Sharma occupies fourth place with 719 points.
Pakistan’s Babar Azam is ranked sixth, while Shaheen Shah Afridi has slipped one place to eighth. Pakistan have also moved up one place to fourth in the ODI team rankings. A unique record was set in men’s ODI cricket on September 27, when six centuries were scored in a single day. South Africa’s Temba Bavuma and David Miller, West Indies’ Justin Greaves, and England’s Tom Banton were among the batters to reach three figures.
Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis has climbed three places to a career-best seventh position after scoring 121 runs. In the ODI bowling rankings, South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj has moved up to third, India’s Kuldeep Yadav to fifth, while Australia’s Josh Hazlewood has risen to 10th.
