Pakistanis who have lost their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) or whose card has been damaged can now apply for a replacement from the comfort of their homes.
The CNIC is an essential identification document for Pakistani citizens. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is the authorised institution responsible for issuing CNICs and other identity documents to Pakistanis living in the country and abroad.
Except for senior citizens, CNICs are issued with a specific validity period. Citizens are required to obtain a new card when their existing CNIC expires. A replacement is also required if the card is lost or damaged.
For citizens who are unable to visit a NADRA office because of work or other commitments, the process can now be completed through NADRA’s Pak Identity mobile application.
How to apply for a replacement CNIC from home
Citizens can follow these steps through the Pak Identity app:
- Open the app and select “Identity Documents” from the home screen.
- Select “CNIC” from the available options.
- Select the applicant and choose “Reprint”.
- Follow the instructions provided in the app and complete the application process step by step.
The service allows eligible citizens to apply for a replacement CNIC without having to visit a NADRA office in person.
