The well-known former fast-bowler, test captain, and great all-rounder, Wasim Akram, reacted strongly to his fake death rumours online, the private media outlet reported on Monday.

Wasim Akram, in a video message, said, “I am fine, and people need to stop spreading fake news.”

He also said that people spread fake news to get popularity. He also thanked and praised his fans who prayed for his health, as the former test captain had a fever and the flu.

It is pertinent to mention that earlier, the fake news was going viral online about the death of Wasim Akram.

Earlier, rumours of Wasim Akram’s death had been circulating on social media after an AI-generated fake video.

Putting an end to the false claims, Shaniera Akram has now shut down the misinformation.

Akram’s wife has shared a video on Instagram, saying, “In response to the FAKE news and AI videos circulating, I just took this video for you, and as you can see, he is in the gym and seems to be ok!”

The video is AI-generated and falsely shows Wasim Akram’s close friend and fellow cricketer, Shoaib Akhtar, announcing his death.
