Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram is reportedly in talks to make his television drama debut alongside veteran actress Mahnoor Baloch in an upcoming drama directed by Fahim Burney.
The project is currently in its early stages, with discussions reportedly underway to finalise the cast. Burney has shared details about the upcoming drama on Instagram, but Akram and Baloch’s participation has not been officially confirmed.
Reports also suggest that actress Mahira Khan may be approached for a special appearance in the project. However, her involvement remains uncertain.
The news of Akram’s reported television debut has sparked mixed reactions on social media. Actress Javeria Abbasi welcomed the development, while some social media users questioned the decision to cast the former cricketer in a television drama.
Akram is widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s greatest fast bowlers. During his international career, he played 104 Test matches and 356 One Day Internationals, taking a total of 916 wickets across both formats.
He was also a key member of Pakistan’s squad that won the 1992 Cricket World Cup.
Since retiring from international cricket in 2003, Akram has remained associated with the sport as a commentator and analyst. He has also appeared in commercials and entertainment projects.
In 2023, he made an appearance in the Pakistani film Money Back Guarantee. If the reported casting is finalised, the upcoming project would mark his first television drama appearance.
