The Punjab government has decided to introduce a digital coding and monitoring system for water filtration plants across the province.
The digital system will be introduced as per the directions of the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority, chaired by its chief executive officer, Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhon.
Officials reviewed plans to transfer data from filtration plants across Punjab, including Lahore, to a central digital dashboard.
Under the new system, each filtration plant will receive a unique digital code. Details including the plant’s code, the operator’s contact number and a helpline number will also be displayed at each facility.
The authority has directed field staff to submit daily reports on the operational status of the plants. Officials will report faults or other problems so that corrective action can be taken promptly.
Mr Bhon said the digital dashboard would enable the authority to monitor filtration plants more effectively and regularly assess their performance.
Field officers from across the province participated in the meeting online, where they discussed the monitoring of filtration plants and implementation of the new digital system.
The initiative is aimed at improving oversight of the province’s water filtration network and helping authorities respond more quickly when plants become non-operational.
