The Punjab Health Department has issued a public alert warning people not to use a counterfeit batch of the antibiotic Azomax 250mg and has urged consumers to purchase medicines only from licensed medical stores and pharmacies.
According to the Directorate of Drugs Control Punjab, a specific batch of Azomax 250mg has been declared counterfeit as part of the department’s ongoing crackdown on fake medicines.
The department identified Batch No. H5332, with an expiry date of July 2027, as counterfeit.
Health officials said the product carries the name of AGP Limited, but the company has confirmed that the batch is not part of its genuine manufactured products.
The Directorate of Drugs Control has directed pharmacies, medical stores, distributors, and healthcare facilities to immediately stop the sale and distribution of the affected batch, isolate any remaining stock, and notify the relevant drug inspector.

The Health Department has also advised the public not to use the counterfeit batch under any circumstances and to buy medicines only from authorised pharmacies and medical stores.
The notice further stated that any adverse reaction linked to the counterfeit medicine should be reported immediately to the Punjab Pharmacovigilance Centre so that appropriate regulatory action can be taken.
