An 83-year-old Egyptian woman has earned a PhD, proving that age is no barrier to education or achieving lifelong dreams.
According to international media reports, Amal Ismail from Egypt has amazed many by completing her doctorate at an age when most people have long retired. Her achievement has been widely praised as an inspiring example of determination and perseverance.
Amal first completed her master’s degree in 2023 before going on to earn a PhD with first-class honours from the Faculty of Arts at Mansoura University. She is believed to be one of the oldest women to receive a doctorate from the university.
Speaking to Arab media, Amal said that obtaining a PhD at the age of 83 sends an important message to anyone who believes that age can stand in the way of fulfilling their ambitions.
“Age is only a number,” she said. “As long as a person is able to think and work, they should never stop pursuing their dreams.”
She added that hope and faith in God are the greatest sources of motivation, and that anyone can achieve their goals if they have determination and believe in themselves.
Amal’s remarkable journey serves as a reminder that learning has no age limit and that it is never too late to pursue one’s aspirations.
