X launches its own video editing tool, here’s how to use

X launches its own video editing tool

X has introduced its own video recording and editing tool, offering creators new features to produce and publish original content directly on the platform instead of reposting videos from elsewhere.

The new video editor is currently available on X’s iOS app, while the Android version is expected to launch later as the company continues rebuilding its mobile application.

The editing tool allows users to add multilingual captions, customize text styles, and use a built-in green-screen feature to place images from their phone gallery or existing X posts as video backgrounds.

X Head of Product Nikita Bier said the company is prioritizing original creators by providing better production tools, adding that more editing features will be rolled out in the coming weeks.

The launch is part of X’s broader strategy to encourage exclusive content creation, although the platform still faces stiff competition from TikTok, YouTube, and Meta, which offer stronger creator monetization programs and more advanced copyright protection systems.

X also continues to battle spam and automated bot activity, with Bier previously revealing that the platform suspends hundreds of bots every minute as part of ongoing efforts to improve content quality.

According to the company, video posts now account for nearly half of all impressions on X, making video one of its fastest-growing content formats. The new editor follows other recently introduced creator-focused features, including React with Video, as X seeks to strengthen its position in the creator economy.
