Yadgar-e-Fatah is a beautiful new national monument in H-8 Islamabad. It has been officially inaugurated today, on August 13, 2026. The inauguration took place the night before Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.

President Zardari, Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Defence Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, attended the opening ceremony.
Additionally, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Senate, Minister of Defence, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, were also present at the ceremony.
Troops from the armed forces, civil armed forces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan were present at the ceremony. A large number of citizens also attended and showed their national spirit.
Along with the armed forces, troops from the civil armed forces and the provinces of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also took part in the ceremony. Police contingents from Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also participating in the event.
After the recitation of the Holy Quran, Farah Saadia and Tauseeq Haider started hosting the ceremony. Afterwards, a documentary was shown to the audience.
According to it, the same white marble was used in the construction of Yadgar-e-Fatah as displayed in the Mataf of the Holy Kaaba.
Pakistan Air Force jets flew over Islamabad at the ceremony, ahead of the country’s 79th Independence Day celebrations on August 14.
PM Shehbaz addresses inauguration ceremony
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for “crushing the enemy’s arrogance.” He also congratulated the nation on Independence Day in the shadow of Yadgar-e-Fatah.
PM Shehbaz also said that the monument symbolises the strength of Pakistan’s armed forces and their superiority over the enemy.

What is Yadgar-e-Fatah?
Yadgar-e-Fatah is a new monument built to honour Marka-e-Haq. It also represents Pakistan’s defence, strength and unity.
The monument is around 150 feet wide and 80 feet high. Its large structure makes it a major landmark in the area.
One of its main features is a permanent 3D illumination projection system. The system uses light and visuals across the structure of the monument.
During the projection shows, the arches, columns, marble work and other parts of the monument become part of the display. The visuals are designed to match the shape of the building.
The projection makes different parts of the monument appear to change and light up. Weekend night shows will also be held at the site.

Yadgar-e-Fatah is located on the H-8 Main Expressway in Islamabad.
Who built it?
The monument was built through structural engineering and stone work by the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO).
The monument has a permanent 3D illumination projection mapping system. It is designed for regular weekend night shows and gives visitors an immersive visual experience.
