Earlier, according to the details shared by Suparco, atmospheric and astronomical conditions appear to be favourable for the crescent moon to be sighted on the evening of May 17.
If the Zil Hajj 2026 moon is sighted today in Pakistan, the country will observe Eid-ul-Azha on May 27th. However, if the moon is not sighted, the Eid will be celebrated on May 28th.
Zil Hajj 2026 moon sighting update from Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court has called on Muslims across the Kingdom to sight the crescent moon marking the beginning of the month of Dhul Hijjah on the evening of Sunday, May 17, 2026.
In a statement issued on Friday, the court urged anyone who sees the crescent with the naked eye or through binoculars to report to the nearest court and register their testimony, or contact the nearest center for assistance in reaching the court.

According to the department, temporary cattle sale points across Punjab will be fully active by Sunday. In addition to this, strict action will be taken against the sale of sacrificial animals on roadsides.
