18-year-old domestic worker dies after abuse allegations

An 18-year-old domestic worker who accused her employer’s son and a driver of repeated sexual assault has died after spending nearly four weeks in hospital.

Police have begun examining the circumstances of her treatment and have launched a full investigation into the case.

The victim, identified as A*, belonged to the Faisalabad district. She died at Services Hospital Lahore on May 26 after being admitted in critical condition in late April.

Police said they registered a First Information Report (FIR) at Model Town Police Station, which includes charges of rape, criminal intimidation, destruction of evidence, and other offences under the Pakistan Penal Code.

Officials said the victim recorded her statement at Services Hospital before the FIR was filed.

In her statement, she said she worked as a live-in domestic worker at a house in Lahore’s Model Town area for around one year.

She alleged that the homeowner’s son and a driver repeatedly sexually assaulted her over several months.

She further stated that she became pregnant as a result of the abuse. She also alleged that attempts were made to terminate the pregnancy and that she received medical treatment after her condition worsened.

Police said they are continuing investigations into all aspects of the case, including possible medical and legal violations linked to her treatment.
