Security forces have eliminated 15 terrorists, while several others were injured in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to initial reports, security forces received confirmed intelligence about the presence of a large group of militants in the area of Bannu.
The forces carried out a targeted and effective operation during which 15 terrorists were killed.
Security forces ensured that the operation was executed with precision and that no civilian casualties occurred.
The Pakistan Army, CTD, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police are conducting joint operations in Bannu to eliminate militant networks.
Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid a visit to the Cadet College in Wana, where an attack was thwarted.
“We repeatedly told them one thing: terrorism should be stopped. Do not destroy the peace in our country,” he said.
The minister further said that Pakistan’s economic indicators and its relations with other countries were headed in the right direction.
However, elements from “across the border” came to the country to carry out attacks, he said.
In October, security forces killed another 22 terrorists, including TTP’s second-in-command, in three separate operations in KP and Balochistan, according to the military’s media wing.
Earlier the same month, 34 “India-backed” terrorists were killed in multiple operations across the province, the ISPR said.
Last year, the TTP carried out 482 attacks, resulting in 558 deaths, an increase of 91per cent from the 293 deaths in the preceding year.
The report says Pakistan has experienced a significant rise in terrorism since the Taliban’s rise to power in Afghanistan. Terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan have intensified their attacks, particularly along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The provinces of Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa remain the most heavily affected regions, with these western border areas accounting for over 96 per cent of terrorist attacks and deaths in Pakistan in 2024.
