Lahore Police have stepped up security on the second day of the 983rd annual Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri, known as Data Ganj Bakhsh, with high-alert measures in place to ensure the safety of thousands of pilgrims visiting the shrine.
According to details, CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana said comprehensive security measures have been implemented for devotees arriving from across the country. An extensive screening system has been deployed at Data Darbar, including walk-through gates, metal detectors, electric barriers, and other modern security equipment.
The CCPO directed officers to pay special attention to the safety of women, children, and elderly pilgrims visiting the shrine. He also instructed senior police officials to remain in constant coordination with the Data Darbar administration and event organisers to ensure effective monitoring of the security arrangements.
He further directed the traffic police to take effective measures to maintain the smooth flow of traffic in and around the Data Darbar complex so that pilgrims do not face any inconvenience.
According to Bilal Siddique Kamiana, police officers and personnel are deployed around the clock and are performing their duties to ensure the safety and security of devotees. Security has also been heightened at all major entry and exit points of the city.
The CCPO further ordered that, in view of the Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA) and the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), search and combing operations should continue across Lahore without interruption to maintain law and order.
