The Sindh government has completed preparations to launch the Sindh Youth Card, according to reports on Monday.
The new programme will provide education, financial and job support to young people across the province.
Launch of Sindh Youth Card
The Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, will officially launch the programme in the last week of August.
Sindh Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mahar said the programme is being introduced on the directions of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
He said that its purpose is to help young people get better education, learn new skills and find more job opportunities.
First phase of Sindh Youth Card
In the first phase, the government will issue the Sindh Youth Card to 100,000 young people. These youth will be between the ages of 15 and 29.
The card will be given to eligible applicants from all 30 districts of Sindh. The government said that the programme is meant to support young people who have had fewer opportunities in the past.
Benefits
People who receive the Sindh Youth Card will be able to apply for university scholarships and higher education opportunities in Pakistan and abroad.
They will also be eligible for interest-free loans, financial support and technical and vocational training.
The card will also offer discounts on local public transport and railway travel. Cardholders may also receive special access to selected public and private sector services.
The Sindh government said the programme is part of its plan to help young people build careers, start businesses and continue their education without financial difficulties.
Eligibility and registration
Registration for the Sindh Youth Card will be done online. Only people with a valid Sindh domicile will be able to apply.
The government has partnered with Jazz Bank to issue the cards. More details about registration, eligibility and the online application process will be announced in the coming weeks.
