Pakistan defeated the West Indies by 8 wickets in the second Test after comfortably chasing a target of 75 runs on the fourth day. The West Indies were bowled out for 117 in their second innings, with Pakistan’s spinners Sajid Khan and Ali Usman claiming four wickets each. Resuming the day at 103 for 6, the visitors lost their remaining four wickets for just 14 runs. Injured opener Brandon King was unable to bat due to a back injury.
Set a target of 75, Pakistan reached the total with the loss of two wickets. Imam-ul-Haq was dismissed for 9, while Azan Owais scored 18. Asad Shafiq and captain Babar Azam remained unbeaten on 24 runs each as Pakistan secured an eight-wicket victory.
Pakistan’s spinners put their team on course for a series-levelling victory as the West Indies stumbled and were all out on 117 runs, and give Pakistan 75 runs target for victory in the 2nd test. The hosts resumed their second innings at 103/6, with all-rounder Justin Greaves leading the effort. However, they could add only 14 more runs before losing their remaining three wickets, while top-order batter Brandon King, who had suffered a lower-back injury on the previous day, was unable to come out to bat.
Left-arm spinner Ali Usman, who had ended the third day on a high note for Pakistan by dismissing West Indies captain Roston Chase with the final delivery, continued his impressive spell after play resumed. He bowled Kemar Roach for a duck with just the 12th ball of the day.
For the West Indies, Keacy Carty Hodge top-scored with 34 runs, while Tegnarine Chanderpaul and Roston Chase contributed 17 runs apiece. Shai Hope made 15, and Amir Jangoo added 13, while Brandon King was unable to bat due to injury.
Pakistan’s off-spinners Sajid Khan and Ali Usman starred with the ball, claiming four wickets each to dismantle the West Indies batting line-up. Sajid finished as the leading wicket-taker of the match with eight wickets, playing a pivotal role in Pakistan’s victory.
