Good news for passport holders as renewal process gets easier

Director General of Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa has directed officials to process passport renewal applications on a priority basis to provide faster and more efficient services to the public.

He issued the instructions while chairing an online meeting with all zonal heads to review the performance of passport offices, public facilities and service delivery across the country.

During the meeting, Randhawa instructed zonal heads to upgrade their zonal and subordinate passport offices into model offices by ensuring cleanliness, discipline, a comfortable environment and all basic facilities for applicants.

He also asked officials to work closely with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to launch effective action against agents and touts and eliminate their presence from passport offices.

The DG directed all passport offices to display awareness videos about the cashless passport fee payment system so applicants can easily understand the new payment process.

He further ordered officials to place banners and standees promoting the passport home delivery service at prominent locations in passport offices to encourage more people to use the facility.

Randhawa also instructed officers to immediately contact applicants who have not yet collected their passports and ensure timely delivery according to the prescribed procedure.

He emphasised that passport renewal applications must be given priority so citizens receive faster, better organised and more efficient services.
