Crackdown on Illegal Gas Compressors Launched

Web desk: With the arrival of winter in Quetta, domestic consumers are once again facing low gas pressure. In response, the district administration has decided to take strict action against people illegally using compressors to boost gas pressure.

A key meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, which was attended by Assistant Commissioners and representatives of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).

The meeting unanimously agreed that immediate action will be taken against individuals selling, installing, or using illegal compressors.

The Deputy Commissioner said that compressor users not only break the law but also pull gas away from other consumers. This further reduces gas pressure in already affected areas.

Every winter, complaints of low gas pressure rise across the country, but domestic users suffer the most. Low pressure makes it difficult to cook food, heat water, or run gas heaters, causing serious inconvenience for households.

Officials warned that using illegal compressors not only increases gas pressure artificially but also leads to gas filling inside homes.

This can cause dangerous accidents, including suffocation, fires, and explosions.

Authorities explained that a gas compressor is an electrical device that forcefully draws gas from the pipeline and pushes it into stoves, heaters, or geysers, creating unsafe gas buildup.

They also noted that compressor users often receive inflated bills, which many cannot afford. Unfair extraction of gas violates the rights of other households and puts human lives at serious risk, often resulting in financial loss or damage to property.

The district administration and SSGC officials stressed that the crackdown will be strictly enforced to protect lives and property. Citizens have been urged to stop using gas compressors and to report those involved in selling or installing these dangerous devices.
