The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the electricity tariff by Rs0.75 per unit across Pakistan under the June 2026 monthly fuel cost adjustment.
According to a notification issued by NEPRA, the increase will also apply to K-Electric consumers. The additional charges will be included in August electricity bills.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested an increase of Rs1.20 per unit for June’s fuel cost adjustment.
Earlier, on June 30, the CPPA had sought a Rs0.82 per unit increase in electricity prices. NEPRA held a public hearing on the request and later reserved its decision. After reviewing the relevant data, the regulator approved a Rs0.75 per unit increase instead.
Last month, NEPRA had also raised electricity prices by Rs0.34 per unit under the May fuel cost adjustment.

Earlier, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had imposed a Rs5 per unit sales tax on electricity consumption for 100 manufacturers, melters, re-rollers, and composite units in the iron and steel sector, a move that is expected to increase steel product prices.
The FBR has issued a new Sales Tax General Order (STGO) for the steel industry, under which selected companies will be charged Rs5 in sales tax for every unit of electricity consumed. The relevant power distribution companies (DISCOs) will collect the tax through electricity bills.
The new tax will apply to melters, re-rollers, and composite units, as well as companies that meet the specified conditions for importing scrap.
