Inspector General of Police Azad Jammu and Kashmir Captain (retd) Liaquat Ali Malik said that the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) was involved in a campaign to create unrest and spread anti-state propaganda in the region.
Addressing a ceremony in Muzaffarabad on Police Martyrs’ Day, the AJK police chief said that the group’s actions surrounding the death of police martyr Aqib had exposed its “malicious agenda”.
The IG stated that self-proclaimed peace activists affiliated with the banned organisation abducted family members who had arrived to receive Aqib’s body.
He further said that the martyr’s family was subjected to violence and humiliation and that objectionable videos were recorded during the incident.
“Those who abuse Kashmir Police while sitting outside should ask Aqib Shaheed’s father about the reality of the banned organisation,” the AJK IG said.
According to Captain (retd) Liaquat Ali Malik, Aqib succumbed to his injuries in an ambulance, while the banned committee withheld his body for four days.
The police chief questioned narratives portraying security personnel as oppressors, saying those who promote such claims should first consider the circumstances in which police officers lost their lives while protecting the state.
“If police officers are injured by bullets, they are still called oppressors, while those firing the bullets are portrayed as victims. What kind of justice is this?” he questioned.
The AJK IG also stated that the banned Action Committee had attempted to exploit the incident through propaganda and create divisions within Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
He maintained that the attempt to spread anti-state propaganda and create unrest in the region had been foiled, adding that the public should consider the ground realities before accepting narratives promoted through propaganda.
Arrested JAAC suspect exposes banned group’s peaceful protest claims
A suspect arrested during a security operation in Rawalakot has exposed the banned Joint Awami Action Committee’s (JAAC) false claims of holding peaceful and unarmed protests.
According to sources, video evidence shows armed members of the banned group carrying multiple weapons, contradicting its claims of being unarmed. Sources revealed that the group’s armed operatives were involved in creating unrest and targeting both security personnel and civilians in the region.
Security forces confirmed that a soldier, Ali Abbas, was seriously injured after coming under fire from JAAC suspects and was shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
During the operation, law enforcement agencies arrested an alleged armed operative identified as Zohaib Khalid. Officials said an American-made M4 rifle was recovered from his possession.
Sources further revealed that the arrested suspect disclosed that the group’s leadership had supplied operatives with modern American-made M4 rifles to fuel unrest. He also allegedly stated that a reward of Rs10 million had been announced for killing a Rangers or police personnel.
