Banned JAAC opens fire on Rangers, Police in Rawalakot: reports

Members of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) have opened fire on Rangers and Police in Rawalakot on Monday, according to reports.

According to a report from the District Control Room Rawalakot, during a clash between protesters and LEAs (Law Enforcement Agencies) at Chinar Chowk, Constable no 429 Muhammad Zubair of District Police Rawalakot was severely injured after being shot.

Additionally, Asif of the Punjab Rangers was also injured and is unconscious. The report also adds that the clash is ongoing and further details are being obtained.

Armed group gathering in Dhirk to disrupt AJK elections: sources

According to sources on Monday, a gathering has taken place in Dhirk, in AJK, where participants are reportedly attempting to march forward.

The sources alleged that the group is armed and is seeking to disrupt the election process.

According to the sources, the group aims to provoke violence and create casualties on the instructions of “foreign handlers.”

State sources said that the government will not yield to such attempts and that the election process will continue as planned.

They added that the people of AJK want the elections to proceed and have rejected what they described as the disruptive banned JAAC movement.

  • LA-1 Dadyal: PML-N’s Azhar Sadiq is leading with 1,908 votes, and PPP’s Chaudhry Afser Shahid is in second place with 1,158 votes.
  • LA-2 Mirpur-2: PML-N’s Chaudhry Azeem Bakhsh is leading with 1,080 votes, and PPP’s Chaudhry Qasim Majeed has 924 votes. Independent candidate Chaudhry Zafar Anwar is also contesting the seat.
  • LA-3 Mirpur-3: PML-N’s Chaudhry Saeed is in the lead over PPP’s Chaudhry Yasir Sultan, according to the unofficial early results. IPP’s Raja Tasleem Arif and Chaudhry Moeez Majeed are behind.
