A suspect arrested during a security operation in Rawalakot has exposed the banned Joint Awami Action Committee’s (JAAC) false claims of holding peaceful and unarmed protests.
According to sources, video evidence shows armed members of the banned group carrying multiple weapons, contradicting its claims of being unarmed. Sources revealed that the group’s armed operatives were involved in creating unrest and targeting both security personnel and civilians in the region.
Security forces confirmed that a soldier, Ali Abbas, was seriously injured after coming under fire from JAAC suspects and was shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
During the operation, law enforcement agencies arrested an alleged armed operative identified as Zohaib Khalid. Officials said an American-made M4 rifle was recovered from his possession.
Sources further revealed that the arrested suspect disclosed that the group’s leadership had supplied operatives with modern American-made M4 rifles to fuel unrest. He also allegedly stated that a reward of Rs10 million had been announced for killing a Rangers or police personnel.
Officials said the suspect’s alleged confessional statements, along with the recovered weapon and video evidence, undermine the banned group’s claims that its protests were peaceful and unarmed.
Earlier, the banned terrorist organisation, the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), disturbed the decorum of the successful election campaign 2026 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
According to the press release issued by the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), a Rangers soldier has been martyred and several police officers injured in clashes involving protesters in AJK.
Police said the violence began after a group associated with the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) allegedly attempted to march towards Rawalakot late at night.
According to the statement, police tried to stop the march, after which protesters allegedly opened fire, injuring two police officers.
An SG constable named Muhammad Zubair was also injured in the last night attack by the JAAC.
As per the media reports, the police and the forces bravely faced the terrorist attack of the banned party.
