Pakistan received $3.63 billion in remittances from overseas workers in July 2026, marking a strong start to the new fiscal year, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Monday.
Remittance inflows increased 4.5 percent from June and were 13 percent higher than the $3.21 billion received in July last year.
The latest figures add to the steady rise in money sent home by overseas Pakistanis, which remains a key source of foreign exchange for the country. Remittances also help support household spending and strengthen Pakistan’s external account.
During the full 2025-26 fiscal year, remittances rose 9 percent to $41.6 billion from $38.3 billion a year earlier.
Topline Securities expects the upward trend to continue, forecasting remittances of around $40.1 billion for FY27.
The government has been encouraging overseas Pakistanis to use formal banking channels to send money home, while offering various incentives to support remittance inflows.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the latest figures, saying the contribution of overseas Pakistanis was helping support the country’s economic stability and growth.
“Overseas Pakistanis are a valuable component of our national economic mainstream,” the prime minister said.
Saudi Arabia remains top source
Saudi Arabia remained the biggest source of remittances in July, with Pakistanis working there sending $914 million during the month.
The inflow was 11 percent higher than the $824 million recorded in July 2025. It also rose 10 percent from the $830 million sent in June.
The United Arab Emirates was the second-largest source, with inflows reaching $737 million. This was 11 percent higher than the $665 million received a year earlier, although the figure fell 7 percent from $792 million in June.
Remittances from the UK stood at $555 million, up 23 percent from $450 million in July last year.
Pakistanis in the US sent home $317 million, an increase of 7 percent from $296 million in June.
Inflows from European Union countries reached $462 million in July, rising 11 percent from $415 million a month earlier.
The latest figures underline the growing role of overseas Pakistanis in supplying much-needed foreign exchange and supporting economic activity through regular transfers to families at home.
