The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is celebrating its 79th Independence Day today, on August 14, with fireworks lighting up several cities as people carried out rallies on the roads holding Pakistani flags.
Fireworks were conducted in major cities like Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi.
Islamabad
Starting from the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, celebrated Independence Day by lighting up the sky with fireworks.
Yadgar e Fatah Islamabad
The celebrations of Independence Day were carried out at Yadgar-e-Fatah, in H-8 Islamabad, which was inaugurated recently.
The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) and the Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), Syed Asim Munir, attended the Independence Day ceremony.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, Minister of Defence, Khawaja Asif, and other major personalities were also present to celebrate Pakistan Day.
A military guard of honour was presented to the honourable guests, while all of those who were present at the ceremony carried Pakistani flags in their hands, showing unity towards their country.
A spectacular fireworks display was also held at the end of the celebrations.
Jinnah Avenue
The citizens of Islamabad enjoyed beautiful firework at the Jinnah Avenue, Islamabad.
Lahore
The people in Lahore also celebrated the 79th Independence Day by gathering in large number on the roads to watch the fireworks at 12:00am.
Liberty Chowk
A large number of people gathered at the Liberty Chowk in Lahore to enjoy the breathtaking fireworks.
Minar-e-Pakistan
A laser and sound show was held at Minar-e-Pakistan with fireworks carried out later.
Karachi
Karachi marked Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with celebrations across different parts of the city, as spectacular fireworks displays lit up the night sky and large crowds gathered on the streets to celebrate the occasion.
Fireworks were carried out at different places in Karachi as well, as people of the ‘City of Lights’ celebrated Pakistan Day with great spirit.
People of all ages came out in large numbers, with citizens enthusiastically enjoying the fireworks and participating in Independence Day festivities. Motorcycle and car rallies were also organised in different areas, creating a lively atmosphere across the city.
Many citizens displayed Pakistani flags on their cars and motorcycles as they travelled through the streets.
The national flags were seen as a symbol of their solidarity with Pakistan and their commitment to the country.
Participants also expressed solidarity with the Pakistan Army, raising patriotic slogans and displaying national flags during the rallies.
The celebrations also reflected a sense of gratitude among citizens for living in an independent country. People said they were thankful for the freedom they enjoy and renewed their commitment to Pakistan’s peace, security and prosperity.
PESHAWAR
Peshawar also celebrated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with patriotic enthusiasm, as residents took to the streets to mark the occasion.
Fireworks displays were held at different locations, drawing large crowds who gathered to enjoy the celebrations and celebrate the country’s Independence Day.
