The police successfully foiled an attack by militants at the Chanarak police checkpoint in Central Kurram.
According to the DPO Kurram, four terrorists were killed and six injured during the retaliatory action, while two police officers were martyred in the exchange of fire.
The militants attempted to set fire to the Chanarak police post, and the exchange of gunfire between the members of the militant group and the police continued in the area.
The DPO Kurram stated that additional police forces were immediately dispatched to the area, and a three-hour-long encounter with the militants ensued.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the professional capabilities of the police, saying that the forces had successfully thwarted the terrorists’ nefarious plans through timely and effective action.
He expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the two martyred officers and paid tribute to their bravery.
According to the DPO, the prompt and effective action by the police played a crucial role in preventing further danger in the area.
The courage and strategy of the police officers not only prevented the attack but also inflicted significant losses on the terrorists. Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with and follow the guidance of security forces to help maintain peace and order in the area.
