Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has announced a temporary suspension of gas supply in several areas of Peshawar, according to reports today.
According to a notice issued by SNGPL, gas supply will be stopped due to necessary work on a gas pipeline. The company said the supply must be suspended while the work is being carried out.
Where will the gas supply be affected?
The affected areas include Bara Road, Ring Road and nearby locations. Domestic consumers and other users in these areas may face a temporary shortage of gas.
When will the gas supply be affected?
SNGPL said the gas supply will remain suspended from 8:30 PM on August 24 until 5:30 AM on August 25. The interruption is expected to last for around nine hours.
The company has advised residents to make the necessary arrangements before the supply is stopped. Consumers have also been asked to take safety measures while the gas supply remains suspended.
SNGPL said the supply will be restored after the pipeline work is completed. The company clarified that the suspension is temporary and normal gas supply will resume once the work is finished.
LPG prices surge in Lahore
The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has increased sharply in Lahore due to the shortage and frequent interruptions of piped gas.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has fixed the official LPG price at Rs254.32 per kilogram.
However, according to the reports, LPG is being sold in Lahore at prices ranging from Rs370 to Rs520 per kilogram.
This means that consumers are paying up to Rs266 more per kilogram than the official rate.
The sudden increase has caused concern among LPG users. Many households have turned to LPG. This is because of frequent gas supply interruptions and load-shedding.
Consumers have urged the government to take action against sellers who are charging higher prices.
