The new prices for petrol and diesel have been announced in Pakistan for August 22, 2026 and onwards. The price of petrol has been increased by Rs3.81 per litre, and the price of diesel has been increased by Rs3.59 per litre, according to the notification.
What are petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan for today?
The price of petrol has been set at Rs341.59 per litre, and the price of diesel has been set at Rs368.29 per litre. These prices have been changed for the next three days till August 24.
Yesterday, the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announced new prices for petroleum products. The rates of high-speed diesel and petrol were increased.
According to the notification, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs0.27 per litre. The price of high-speed diesel increased by Rs1.64 per litre.
The new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 337.78 per litre. Similarly, the new price of diesel has been fixed at Rs 364.70 per litre.
Govt raises petrol, diesel dealers’ margin
Earlier today, the government increased the profit margin for petrol and diesel dealers by Rs1.34 per litre on Friday.
The new margin will come into effect across the country from midnight tonight. After the increase, dealers will receive Rs9.98 per litre instead of the previous Rs8.64 per litre.
Sources said that the decision was made after dealers raised concerns about their rising business costs.
They had also been demanding an increase in their margins for some time. The new margin will apply to petrol and diesel sold at fuel stations across Pakistan.
Pakistan’s weekly inflation up 0.49 per cent
Pakistan’s short-term inflation increased by 0.49 per cent in the week ending August 20, 2026, mainly due to higher prices of onions, petrol and chicken, according to the latest data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) showed that onion prices rose the most, increasing by 14.17 per cent compared to the previous week.
Petrol prices went up by 3.77 per cent, while chicken prices increased by 3.35 per cent.
