The Islamabad administration has urged citizens to ensure that they pay only the officially notified prices when purchasing chicken, eggs, vegetables, fruits and sugar in the capital on Sunday, August 23.

According to the administration, consumers should check the government-issued price lists before making purchases and avoid paying prices higher than the officially fixed rates.

Citizens have also been advised to report shopkeepers who violate the official price lists to the Deputy Commissioner’s Control Room at 051-9108084 immediately.

The administration urged consumers to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities in curbing overcharging and ensuring the availability of essential commodities at officially notified prices.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar warned that strict action would be taken against artificial shortages, overpricing and other practices that could increase the cost of essential food products.

Dar directed the concerned authorities to fully implement the government’s policy of ensuring that essential food products remain available to ordinary citizens at affordable prices.

The latest Market Committee list provides an official reference for checking the prices of commonly purchased food products. Consumers are advised to check notified rates when shopping and report cases where sellers demand extra prices.
