Islamabad Traffic Police have issued a traffic plan for the main Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) procession in the capital, with several roads set to face diversions during the event.
The main procession will start from the Rahmat Community Centre Ground in G-7. It will pass through Jamia Masjid Al-Raza, G-7, Jamia Masjid Al-Habib in G-7/3, Street 55 and the service road near Iqbal Hall before passing through Melody Chowk, Aabpara and Sohrwardi Road. The procession will end at Sakhi Mehmood Darbar.
Traffic diversions will be in place along several routes during the procession. Traffic from Sitara Market heading towards Iqbal Hall and Sadar Road will be diverted. Motorists can use the service road near Dak Khana Stop, while traffic coming from the Fire Brigade can use Sohrwardi Road, Zero Point and Faisal Avenue.
Traffic from Iqbal Hall towards Service Road G-7/3/1 and Razia Sharif Plaza will also be diverted, with motorists advised to use 7th Avenue.
Traffic at China Chowk on Fazal-e-Haq Road towards Kulsum Plaza will be diverted, and commuters can use Jinnah Avenue as an alternative route.
Another diversion will be in place from Shuhada Chowk and GPO Chowk towards Melody and Aabpara Chowk. Motorists can use Shaheed-e-Millat Road from GPO Chowk.
Traffic from Aabpara Chowk towards Sohrwardi Road and 7th Avenue Chowk will also face restrictions. Motorists coming from Zero Point and Rawalpindi are advised to use 7th Avenue, Faisal Avenue and Srinagar Highway.
Islamabad Traffic Police have urged citizens to use alternative routes and follow traffic updates through the department’s social media pages and ITP FM 92.4 during the procession.
