The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced a four-day training program to improve AI skills among university teachers in Pakistan.
The program is called “AI Literacy for Faculty Members: Building AI-Ready Institutions.” It will be organised by the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) under HEC.
What are the training dates and focus?
The training will be held on August 27, 28 and 31, 2026 and September 1, 2026. The sessions will run from 9 AM to 4 PM.
The program will teach faculty members how to use AI in different areas of education. These include curriculum design, teaching, learning, assessment, research and academic administration.
According to HEC, the training will be conducted through smart classrooms at around 100 universities.
Who can apply?
The program is open to full-time regular or permanent faculty members. Newly appointed faculty members have been especially encouraged to take part.
HEC has asked universities to select suitable teachers for the program. The purpose is to help universities build stronger AI skills and become more ready to use AI in education.

Study in Sri Lanka: HEC announces SLIIT scholarships
HEC has opened applications for an undergraduate scholarship at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) for the September/October 2026 admission.
HEC has also encouraged eligible Pakistani students to apply. It has shared the scholarship details, eligibility criteria, and application process as well, which you can see here.
Benefits of the scholarship
The scholarship offers a full tuition fee waiver for the entire degree programme. This will last three to four years.
The total scholarship value ranges from USD 10,000 to USD 25,000. It depends on the selected programme.
Students can also get the opportunity to transfer to selected offshore degree programmes that are offered by SLIIT’s international partner universities.
SLIIT and its partner universities will award internationally recognised degrees to the students, wherever it will be applicable.
