The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has opened applications for an undergraduate scholarship at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) for the September/October 2026 admission.
HEC has also encouraged eligible Pakistani students to apply. It has shared the scholarship details, eligibility criteria, and application process as well, which you can see here.
Benefits of the scholarship
The scholarship offers a full tuition fee waiver for the entire degree programme. This will last three to four years.
The total scholarship value ranges from USD 10,000 to USD 25,000. It depends on the selected programme.
Students can also get the opportunity to transfer to selected offshore degree programmes that are offered by SLIIT’s international partner universities.
SLIIT and its partner universities will award internationally recognised degrees to the students, wherever it will be applicable.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must be Pakistani or AJK nationals and must have completed HSSC, A-Level, or an equivalent qualification.
They should meet the admission requirements for their chosen programme and have a strong academic record, usually between 75 and 90 per cent or the equivalent.
Applicants must also be eligible for admission to a bachelor’s degree programme in their home country, and they should also have a valid passport.
Students who have not yet received their HSSC or A-Level certificate may apply by submitting a completion or hope certificate issued by the relevant education authority.

Scholarship covers tuition fees only
HEC said that the scholarship covers tuition fees only. This means that these students will have to pay for accommodation, meals, airfare, living expenses, health insurance, visa and visa renewal charges, and all other personal expenses themselves.
85 Pakistani students set to leave for US
Recently, the United States announced 85 Fulbright scholarships for talented Pakistani students and researchers to pursue higher education in the US.
The selected students attended a two day orientation seminar organised by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) in Islamabad.
Speaking at the event, US Chargé d’Affaires Andrew Haviland said Pakistan is home to one of the world’s largest Fulbright programmes.
He said that educational exchanges help strengthen ties between the two countries and allow people to learn from each other.
