Driving Permit in Pakistan

A Juvenile Driving Permit in Pakistan has been introduced for 16 and 17-year-olds, allowing them to legally ride motorcycles and scooters with an engine capacity of up to 125cc.

If you are under 18, you do not have to worry about riding illegally, as eligible applicants can receive the permit on the same day after passing the traffic signs test and fulfilling the required conditions.

What you need to apply?

  • Age: 16 to under 18
  • Parent or guardian’s written permission
  • B-Form or Smart Card
  • Applicants aged 16 have to pay Rs 1,000, while those aged 17 have to pay Rs 500.
  • Applicants must pass the required traffic signs and road test.
  • Wearing a helmet is mandatory, while the motorcycle must also have indicators and side-view mirrors.

The Juvenile Driving Permit is different from the standard learner driving licence. Under Punjab’s existing licensing rules, the minimum age for a motorcycle or car learner licence is 18.

Therefore, 16 and 17-year-olds who meet the requirements should apply under the Juvenile Driving Permit category instead of the standard learner licence.

The Juvenile Driving Permit in Punjab is valid until the holder turns 18. Once they reach 18, the juvenile permit expires, and they need to obtain a regular driving license.
