Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif attended the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan on Monday. He was warmly welcomed by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov.
The ceremony was also attended by leaders from several countries who arrived in Kyrgyzstan to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting.
A Pakistani contingent is also taking part in the 6th World Nomad Games. When the Pakistani athletes entered the stadium, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stood up and paid tribute to the national contingent.
The spectators at the stadium also warmly welcomed the Pakistani athletes and applauded them.
Pakistani athletes will participate in different competitions at the games and represent the country in traditional and cultural sports.
The World Nomad Games are international competitions featuring traditional and cultural sports from Central Asia and other regions.
The games include wrestling, horse racing, archery and traditional hunting events, as well as various intellectual and mind games.
The 6th World Nomad Games will be held in Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 6, 2026.
The event aims to promote cultural ties, mutual understanding and cooperation among people from different countries while highlighting the cultural heritage of traditional sports.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), held several high-level meetings during his official visit to Türkiye on Monday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In Istanbul, Field Marshal Asim Munir separately met Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
He also met Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defence Minister Yaşar Güler and Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu.
The meetings focused on matters of mutual interest, defence cooperation and the regional security situation.
