The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has released version 5.7.4 of its Pak Identity mobile app, introducing several new facilities for citizens and overseas Pakistanis.
In a video message, NADRA spokesperson Syed Shabahat Ali said the latest version includes several important features, including the facility to file complaints with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) online, corrections to family records, signature uploads and digital identity documents.
Online FIA complaint facility
The new version includes a dedicated section for matters related to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
According to NADRA, citizens will be able to submit complaints online through the Pak Identity app once the FIA completes the necessary arrangements. Users will also be able to track the progress of their complaints through the app, eliminating the need to visit the relevant FIA office or police station to lodge a complaint.
Easier family record corrections
NADRA has received complaints from citizens regarding difficulties in obtaining a Family Registration Certificate (FRC), particularly when a family member’s name is missing from the family record.
The new app version has simplified the process of adding such individuals to the family data. If the concerned person already has a CNIC, an application can be submitted through the Pak Identity app to add them to the family record.
After verification of the required information and documents, the application will be approved and the individual will be added to the family composition. Citizens can then obtain a new FRC reflecting the updated family record.
If the concerned individual does not have a CNIC, their name can still be added to the FRC. However, such an addition will only be valid for that particular FRC and will not become part of NADRA’s permanent family record.
Improved signature upload feature
The Pak Identity app has also introduced improvements to the signature-upload process.
The latest version includes an aspect-ratio cropping feature. If a signature is not positioned in the centre of an image or appears too small, the app will automatically focus on and crop the signature, making it easier for users to upload it correctly.
Succession certificate verification
The Pak Identity app also offers a facility to verify Succession Certificates.
Citizens can verify a Succession Certificate or Letter of Administration through the app by selecting the succession certificate verification option available on the home page.
NADRA said the process can be completed within a few minutes. A detailed video explaining the procedure is also available on NADRA’s YouTube channel.
Digital identity for overseas Pakistanis
The latest version also introduces an important facility for overseas Pakistanis.
Once an application for a CNIC, NICOP or Pakistan Origin Card (POC) is approved and the document has been printed and verified, its digital version will become available through the Pak Identity app.
According to NADRA, digital records and digital IDs available through the app have the same legal status as the corresponding physical identity documents under Pakistan’s digital laws.
The facility will be available for applications submitted both from Pakistan and abroad.
NADRA has also informed relevant institutions about the legal status and use of digital identity documents so that they can be accepted for identity verification when required.
NADRA said the latest version of the Pak Identity app aims to make identity-related services easier, faster and more digital for citizens and overseas Pakistanis.
