Web desk: Absconder Proceedings have been initiated against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi after he repeatedly failed to appear before the court despite multiple summons.
The case was last heard on November 26, but the accused once again remained absent.
The court has also started similar proceedings against Provincial Minister Meena Khan Afridi and Dr Amjad. They also did not comply with repeated court notices, reports say.
The Special Court-I (Anti-Terrorism) Islamabad has issued proclamations under Section 87 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.P.C.) against three accused individuals in FIR No. 706/24 registered at Police Station Noon.
Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain of the Anti-Terrorism Court, Islamabad, accepted the request to declare Sohail Afridi an absconder.
The proclamation order was issued against Muhammad Sohail Afridi, Meena Khan Afridi, and Dr Amjad after Inspector Abdul Qadir submitted an application. The application stated that the accused had deliberately concealed themselves to evade lawful arrest.
Statements of Process Servers Khalid Khan (ASI) and Junaid Iqbal (SI) were recorded. And the court found their accounts and reports satisfactory.
It was observed that the accused were intentionally avoiding arrest. It led the court to order the issuance of proclamations under Section 87 Cr.P.C.
