Pakistani actress and social activist Nadia Jamil has strongly criticised a viral statement by renowned religious scholar Mufti Tariq Masood regarding marriage, calling the remarks “extremely dangerous.”
In a video circulating on social media, Mufti Tariq Masood appears to encourage men to have four marriages. In the viral clip, he is heard saying that his mission is to get every man married four times.
Some remarks in the clip, particularly comments concerning underage girls, have sparked strong criticism on social media.
Digital creator Areej Jamil shared the video, which Nadia Jamil reposted on her Instagram Story, expressing a strong reaction to Mufti Tariq Masood’s comments.
Nadia Jamil said that such statements are extremely dangerous in a society where women face crimes including violence, sexual abuse and murder.
The actress described the remarks as contributing to and further fuelling hatred against women.
Several other celebrities and social media users, including actresses Ayesha Omar, Mathira and Zhalay Sarhadi, also expressed anger and concern over the viral clip. Some users also called for action against Mufti Tariq Masood.

Nadia Jamil gained recognition in the late 1990s as one of Pakistan’s most esteemed television actresses, celebrated for her authentic acting style and timeless aesthetic.
She made her debut on PTV with a remake of Kiran Kahani in 1998.
Fans often call her 90s appearances as the depiction of “real beauty” in the history of Pakistani television.
At the height of her career, she was also offered a role in the Bollywood film Veer-Zaara by director Yash Chopra, which she chose to decline in order to focus on her family responsibilities at that time.
