Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that the SMS service required for registration to receive relief under the petrol subsidy scheme be made free of charge.
A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which he instructed authorities to waive charges for the SMS service required to register for petrol subsidy relief.
Owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and vehicles with engines up to 800cc will be eligible for the fuel subsidy. The fuel subsidy scheme will be launched in Islamabad during the night between September 14 and 15.
Across the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, relief under the scheme will begin during the night between September 16 and 17.
The prime minister directed the administration, including the Chief Commissioner and Inspector General of Islamabad, to remain present in the field to guide and facilitate the public.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said citizens should be provided with all possible assistance during registration and other necessary procedures. He also directed that public representatives and volunteers be mobilised to guide people.
Volunteers will assist citizens in completing the registration process and fulfilling other requirements under the scheme.
The Prime Minister further ordered a comprehensive media awareness campaign regarding the fuel subsidy scheme. He directed authorities to accelerate the campaign across all platforms, including social media, so that maximum people can obtain information about the scheme and its registration process.
