The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has restrained authorities from harassing or arresting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders ahead of the party’s planned September 27 protest.
Justice Raja Inaam Amin Minhas heard the petition filed against the alleged harassment of PTI leaders ahead of the September 27 long march.
PTI leaders Shoaib Shaheen, Malik Amir Ali and others appeared before the court through their lawyers, including Shoaib Shaheen and Riasat Azad.
During the hearing, Shoaib Shaheen told the court that arrests and raids had allegedly resumed ahead of the September 27 protest. He claimed that raids were being conducted at the homes of PTI workers.
According to Shaheen, household belongings and cash were allegedly taken during some of the raids. He further claimed that his family was also being harassed despite his own health issues.
The lawyer also alleged that women and children were being taken away during some raids. He told the court that he was willing to submit affidavits and CCTV footage in support of the allegations.
Shaheen requested the court to restrain authorities from harassing or arresting the petitioners and sought an early date for the next hearing.
Justice Raja Inaam Amin Minhas remarked that the court could summon the SSP Operations to seek an explanation over the matter.
The court subsequently summoned the Islamabad SSP Operations in person and restrained authorities from harassing or arresting Shoaib Shaheen, Malik Amir Ali and other PTI leaders. The hearing was then adjourned.
The development comes ahead of PTI’s planned September 27 nationwide protest and long march towards Islamabad.
Earlier today, in a separate development, the Supreme Court resumed hearing petitions concerning Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s medical treatment, hospital transfer and meetings with his family members.
The Imran Khan Supreme Court hearing today conducted by a three-member bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed and comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim.
At the outset of the hearing, Justice Shahid Waheed asked whether representatives of the parties were present in the courtroom.
Additional Attorney General Rana Asad appeared before the bench and informed the judges about an order issued by the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) a day earlier.
The Imran Khan Supreme Court proceedings today come after the FCC summoned the record of cases concerning the transfer of Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital from the Supreme Court.
Rana Asad read out the FCC order before the Supreme Court bench. The development has brought the record of the hospital transfer proceedings before both superior courts.
The top court postponed the hearing for three weeks.
The Supreme Court had earlier directed authorities to transfer Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital for medical examination and treatment. The court had also directed arrangements concerning his medical assessment and meetings with family members.
