Examinations for Class 5 and Class 8 students across all education boards in Punjab will be held during the first week of February.
Meanwhile, in view of the situation arising from the supply and prices of petroleum products in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a decision has been taken to keep all public and private educational institutions in the province closed for two days a week.
The Education Department, in light of the decision of the provincial cabinet, has issued a notification declaring educational institutions closed on Friday and Saturday.
According to the notification, public and private schools, colleges and other relevant educational institutions across the province will remain closed every Friday and Saturday, while educational activities will continue as usual on the remaining four days of the week.
The measure has been introduced to reduce the consumption of petroleum products and ease transportation-related difficulties faced by students, teachers and parents amid the current situation.
According to the Education Department, the new arrangement will remain in force for two months or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
The decision covers institutions providing primary and secondary education, as well as public and private colleges, universities and degree-awarding institutions operating under the higher education sector.
The notification also directs school heads to continue homeschooling and online teaching during the Friday and Saturday closures wherever possible. The move is intended to ensure that students’ educational activities are not completely disrupted by the additional holidays.
Higher education institutions have also been encouraged to adopt hybrid or online teaching methods on the remaining days of the week.
The decision forms part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s broader measures aimed at conserving fuel and addressing transportation-related challenges caused by the current petroleum supply and price situation.
