In Lahore, on Wednesday, the Women’s Race Course Police thwarted a liquor supply attempt and arrested a bootlegger.
According to the police, the operation was conducted near Shimla Pahari based on a tip-off. This led to the suspect’s arrest.
During the operation, a gallon containing 10 litres of locally brewed liquor, also known as country liquor or Arrack, was recovered from the suspect’s possession. The arrested individual has been identified as Irfan Masih.
The police have registered a case against the suspect and handed him over to the investigation wing for further inquiry.
SP Civil Lines, Munazza Karamat, stated that operations to rid the city of narcotics are ongoing.
Pakistan Customs seizes smuggled phones, liquor
Pakistan Customs, back on July 24, seized smuggled phones and liquor worth approximately Rs158 million, in intelligence-based operations.
According to reports, two operations were conducted at Silk Route Dry Port, Sost.
They led to the recovery of 317 concealed smartphones, 3,540 bottles of foreign-origin liquor, 42 cartons of pork meat and other prohibited food items.
After that, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered on July 27.
Separately, on July 27, customs officers checked a container that had been held at Sost Dry Port after a secret tip.
It led to the recovery of around 3,540 bottles of foreign-origin liquor in 200 cartons, and 42 cartons of pork meat and other Chinese food items
Rs200m worth of liquor seized
On April 13, the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) said that it had confiscated foreign liquor worth Rs200 million during a joint intelligence-based operation in the Arabian Sea.
“The operation was carried out through a coordinated effort by the Pakistan Navy, PMSA, Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre and Anti-Narcotics Force (Sindh), demonstrating effective inter-agency collaboration and operational synergy,” the statement read.
According to the details, an operation led to the interception of the vessel. It was labelled as a stateless vessel that was carrying a huge amount of illegal liquor. Additionally, it had been concealed onboard for the purpose of unlawful distribution.
