Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has taken notice of reports that a two-year-old girl was allegedly married to a 60-year-old man in the Kechlak area.
The alleged child marriage came to light after reports of the incident spread on social media, triggering concern over the safety of the minor and the implementation of child marriage laws.
Following the chief minister’s directions, police arrested the girl’s father, Abdul Bari, in Chaman.
Balochistan Chief Minister’s Adviser for Information and Political Affairs Shahid Rind said those involved in the case would face legal action and no one would be allowed to escape the law.
He said the authorities had ordered a thorough investigation and directed officials to take immediate measures to protect the child.
Rind said police and the district administration had been told to investigate the matter and take action against anyone found responsible under the law.
He also warned that negligence by any official or institution dealing with the case would not be tolerated.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about child marriage and the protection of minors in Balochistan. The investigation is currently underway.
