“US is at a ‘deciding point’ over Iran”: US President Trump

US President Donald Trump has said Washington is approaching a critical decision point over Iran, warning that “very big things” could happen soon as tensions between the two countries remain high.
In a recent interview with Fox News, Trump said he was in a “deciding mode” over the next steps towards Tehran. 
He indicated that the US was considering several options, including continued economic pressure, a potential military response and reaching a deal with Iran. 
Trump has warned Iran that it could face more severe measures if it does not change its approach.
His comments come as Washington and Tehran remain involved in an extended confrontation, with military tensions continuing alongside attempts at diplomacy. Trump has also previously described himself as approaching a major decision over whether to resume large-scale military operations against Iran. 
Despite his warnings, Trump has left the door open to negotiations.
He has indicated that he could meet Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly in New York. 
The US has also approved visas for Pezeshkian and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to attend the UN gathering. 
The possibility of a meeting comes as both sides continue to send conflicting signals, with threats of further escalation accompanied by diplomatic efforts to find a way out of the confrontation.
Iranian officials have continued to warn that any new US attack could trigger a wider military response.
Iran’s military command has threatened attacks against US bases and interests in the region if Washington launches further military action. 
At the same time, Iranian officials have said Tehran remains open to negotiations under certain conditions. 
Iranian officials have also continued to highlight the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant share of global energy supplies normally passes.
The upcoming UN General Assembly in New York could provide an opportunity for further diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran.
