Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Fazal Shakoor was stopped by law enforcement agencies at a Peshawar motorway checkpoint for a search on Monday. According to reports, when he did not stop, Fazal Shakoor’s guards opened indiscriminate fire at the police.
Attaullah Tarar criticises Junaid Akbar
Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar recently criticised PTI leader Junaid Akbar over his recent statements about the party’s planned protest.
In a statement on X, Tarar said Junaid Akbar’s remarks showed that PTI may not hold a peaceful protest. He claimed that the party could take steps that may cause violence or unrest.
Tarar said the government is responsible for protecting people and their businesses. He also said it must ensure that daily life continues normally.
The minister said the government would not allow protesters to block roads or create problems for citizens.
He added that authorities would take steps to maintain law and order during the protest.
Tarar was responding to Junaid Akbar’s comments about PTI’s upcoming political activities. Junaid Akbar has said that PTI will march towards Islamabad on September 27.
He said the protesters will stay there until their demands are met. These demands include the release of Imran Khan.
PTI has said that its political activities are part of its right to peaceful protest. PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan has also said the September 27 protest will remain peaceful. He said protesters will not try to enter Adiala Jail or use violence.
The statements come as tensions continue between the government and PTI over the planned protest and the party’s demands.
